Urban Corps of San Diego County

Environmental Services

Protecting our environment.

Our Environmental Services Department trains young adults to protect and maintain the urban environment in and around San Diego County through conservation and preservation projects.

Our Corpsmembers learn how to properly plant trees, identify native and non-native species and remove invasive plants.

Corpsmembers work to clean San Diego’s waterways, restore riparian ecosystems, build trails, control erosion by means of BMPs (Best Management Practices), construct crib steps and restore the habitat of canyons, parks and wetlands.

Urban Corps Licenses

2,000 trees throughout San Diego County.

Urban Corps partnered with the Environmental Health Coalition as part of its Transformative Climates Communities planning grant focusing on the need for green spaces in Barrio Logan and surrounding neighborhoods. Together, we identified over 1,000 locations in need of trees when future funding is available.

Through a CAL FIRE Urban Forestry grant, Urban Corps in partnership with Tree San Diego and several cities will plant and maintain 2,000 trees throughout San Diego County.
