Urban Corps of San Diego County was awarded $1.25 million to plant 2,000 trees throughout the county via Proposition 68 funding (from CAL FIRE’s Urban and Community Forestry, Urban Forest Expansion and Improvement grant program)

This project, entitled, San Diego County Urban Forestry and Arboriculture Project, is designed to employ and train 100 young adults on tree planting activities.

The project has seven partners (including Urban Corps):

  • City of San Diego
  • City of Imperial Beach
  • City of Vista
  • City of Encinitas
  • City of La Mesa
  • The Rancho Santa Fe Association

Each is a receiving partners, working with Urban Corps on plant palette, location and watering. Urban Corps works alongside Tree San Diego – a local nonprofit whose mission is to increase tree canopy in San Diego.
